At ANC 2A’s regular July meeting on Wednesday, July 20th the ANC voted to enter into a new settlement agreement (SA) with the Watergate Hotel. The agreement was submitted to the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board for their approval. The two previous agreements are posted on the ANC website here. The new agreement, which can be found here, will be official once approved by the ABC Board, which is expected to take place on Wednesday, July 27th.
A synopsis of the new draft agreement includes the hotel’s reinforced compliance with the two previous SAs and adds three essential elements:
- The hotel established a policy to be more responsive to community concerns. They made their security desk available to answer and respond to calls regarding neighborhood concerns. Per the draft SA, they will publish the security desk number which answers 24/7. That number is (202) 716-0011. Should neighbors request their assistance, they will be available at your invitation to come to your residence to better understand and assess your concerns.
- The hotel is committed to limit and strictly enforce deliveries and pick up times. Per the draft SA, the hours will confine those deliveries and pick-ups to 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
- The hotel will use the truck tunnel for all deliveries with limited exceptions. Those exceptions are due to the size of their elevators. Therefore, the SA states that “bulk” item deliveries will use the back entrance (the circle at the end of the driveway between Watergate West and the hotel) but again, the hours are limited to 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
